Archives and Documents

And Custom Error Pages Too

At last, the Archives are up and running smoothly.

Being the original purpose of this server, this marks a major milestone and turning point in development of the greater telepathy.dev project. At this state, the Archive is ready to be populated with testimonies and other relevant information. As well, the core framework of the server is mostly supported by unit tests now, and everything should run much smoother. There is still much work to be done, but the bulk of structuring tasks have been finished. From here on, development efforts can focus on the design and UX of the website as a whole, as well as implementation of a few more quality-of-life features.

I actually got this done earlier than expected, thanks to Rails' new in-house ActiveStorage solution, but work is still far behind what I would have imagined when I started this project a year ago. With the new direction of this research project comes all the requirements for a new area of expertise. It is becoming apparent this project is turning into a rapidly snowballing problem, so I will just have to work much harder to ensure I remain on track to accomplish such an ambitious goal.

Be sure to check out the new Archive tab, where you can see the first Archive submission, a quick Q&A from the streamer SimpleFlips. Or check below for a gif of a cute hedgehog.

Looking through the Rails docs now, it looks like Active Storage has actually been around for a while... Huh.
